Róisín Marie Murphy ( 5 July 1973) is an Irish singer-songwriter and record producer. Murphy and her partner Mark Brydon gained popularity during the 1990s as a half British- half Irish trip hop duo called ‘Moloko.’ The name Moloko comes from the narcotic-filled milk drink, Moloko Plus, in the Anthony Burgess novel A Clockwork Orange.The duo achieved success in the UK, producing four top 20 singles. After the split up of ‘Moloko, Murphy started her solo career and released her debut solo album ‘Ruby Blue’ in 2005. Her second album ‘Overpowered,’ was released in 2007. 

After a break of eight years, she released her third album ‘Hairless Toys,’ in 2015 and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and Ireland’s Choice Music Prize. The following year she released her fourth album ‘Take Her Up to Monto,’ and in 2018 released four 12 minute songs in collaboration with producer Maurice Fulton.
