Taylor Dayne, born in New York on March 7, 1962 is an American singer.

After high school, Dayne became the lead singer of new wave group Felony. In addition to regular performances, she studied music theory and composition and took private singing lessons. After leaving Felony, she started singing with the group The Next but in 1985 she began a solo career.

After releasing several 12-inch records, Dayne came out with her single Tell it to my heart in 1988. This single reached the number 1 position in many countries, including the Netherlands, in both the Dutch Top 40 and the National Hitparade Top 100. The successor Prove your love was on Thursday April 14, 1988 TROS Paradeplaat on Radio 3 and also became a big hit. This record reached the 6th position in the Dutch Top 40 and the 8th position in the National Hitparade Top 100. In the same year Dayne performed as supporting act to Michael Jackson.

Dayne was unable to match the great success of Tell it to my heart and Prove your love. In 1993 she released a new album and in 1994 a Greatest Hits album. After a disagreement with her record company, she started for herself in 1994. Because she was still under a contract, she engaged in acting for some time. In 1998 she released a new album under her own management. The title track of the 2000 album Planet Love became a major dance hit in the United States.

In 2010 Dayne sang the official song of the Gay Games in Cologne during the opening ceremony on July 31: Facing a Miracle. In 2017, she made a remix of the 2002 single How Many with house producer Tony Moran.

Dayne has received two Grammy Award nominations, and has won an American Music Award, and multiple New York Music Awards. She has also received New York Hall of Fame honors and was ranked number 18 on Rolling Stone's list of the best female dance artists of all time. In December 2016, Billboard magazine ranked her the 28th most successful dance artist of all time.
