Tori Amos

Myra Ellen Tori Amos, born August 22, 1963, was an American singer-songwriter and pianist. From a very young age, Amos was into music. Her parents noticed this as well and they were firmly impressed. At the age of five Amos was accepted at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, she is the youngest student of all time at that time. For six years Amos was involved in music, but due to rebellion and her own plans she had to leave the conservatory.

Around her thirteenth birthday, Amos and her father start looking for work in music . She gets a chance at a gay bar in Washington. 'No safer place for a thirteen-year-old girl,' says her father. She plays in various bars and hotel lounges in Washington over the next few years, as well as at weddings, parties and funerals in her father's parish. She sends demo tapes to various record companies, but is always rejected.

In 1990, Amos finally breaks through with the album ''Little Earthquakes''. Before this she released an album with Y Kant Tori Read, a band she was in, but this album flopped. After the breakthrough Amos started to release more and more music, a total of 16 albums. Amos also started touring a lot and in 2022 Amos will be seen in Amsterdam.
